Portrait Photography

Portraits (portraiture) is a type of photography that captures images of one or several people. Often looking directly into the camera, the main focus of the image is the face and facial expressions. Mostly, portraits are composed but occasionally can also be spontaneous.

Unlike the nature of painted portraiture, it is not common for portrait photography to be intended for exhibition but it is often given as a gift for a family member, to remember a special occasion such as a graduation or wedding or to simply be hung in the family home.

Portrait Photography is often done in a studio, but it is not a neccessity. Photos can be taken anywhere, and, although the custom is to create photos with neutral backgrounds, a good photographer will be able to offer portraits at a location of your choice, indoors or even outdoors.
