Wedding Photography

There are several different styles of wedding photography, and you may hear them call ed by many different names, however they boil down to three maincatagories: Tradtional, Reportage (or Photojournalistic) and Contemporary. Deciding which style suits you is an important decision as this is how you will view your special day years down the line.

Traditional can offer a very formal style with posed photographs and normally requires a lot of interaction from the photographer. Reportage is much less intrusive witht the photographer working quite unnoticed to capture candid and unposed images that often reflect the emotion of a day more than either formal or contemporary photography.

Strictly, reportage could be seen to be contemporary but contemporary is more usual seen to be the update of traditonal photography, with posed photographs which have a far greater artistic quality. Rather than a series of posed photos though the aim is to capture a story in a similar way to reportage, however, composition and lghting play a much greater part in contemporary photography.

Now, just to be clear, most photographers do not sit neatly in these boxes, so the best thing when choosing which style you would like is to talk to your photographer, see what they think and how they will present your images. Ask for examples from them and see which you prefer.
